Requirements and Credits Information

BACHELOR ESSAY REQUIREMENTS:

The Bachelor Thesis should be related to the area in which the degree is sought (ministry, education, office administration, biblical study, leadership, etc.) The topic must be approved by the instructor/advisor assigning the essay or Dean of Academics. This Thesis should be no more than 10 pages of text at a 14 point font double spaced. All information contained in the thesis should be obtained through personal research. A bibliography MUST be included. The thesis will be graded based on research ability of the individual, originality of content, contribution of knowledge to the community, quality of writing (can others understand what is being said), and the student’s ability to work independently on research.

MASTER’S THESIS REQUIREMENTS:

A Thesis will be required for EVERY Master’s degree regardless of specialization. This thesis will be no more than 100 pages typed at a 14 point font, double spaced, The topic of the thesis must be approved by the instructor/advisor assigning the Thesis and the Dean of Academics. A bibliography of all materials used in the research will be required. The Thesis will be graded on the research ability of the individual, originality of content, contribution of knowledge, quality of writing and the student’s ability to work independently on research.

DOCTORAL DISSERTATION:

Every Doctoral Degree will require a dissertation regardless of specialization. The Dissertation topic must be approved by the student’s instructor/advisor and the Dean of Academics in order for credit to be issued. This Dissertation should be no less than 100 pages and is anticipated to be no more that 200 pages typed at a 14 point font, double spaced. A bibliography of research materials will be required. The dissertation will be graded based on research ability, originality, contribution of knowledge, quality of writing and ability to work independently. In some instances, the student may be required to give an oral presentation of the findings/research in the dissertation.

INTERNSHIP CREDIT:

These will be required for certain degrees. Your instructor/advisor will assign internship where it is required.

Internship is a program where you will work under a minister to provide a service to a local church or other ministry as approved by your instructor/advisor and the Dean of Academics. An intern may be assigned to do any background, behind-the-scenes tasks necessary for the minister to provide quality ministry to the people who are being served. Credits will be based on performance reports provided by the minister over the intern.

MINISTRY CREDIT:

These will be required for certain degrees. Your instructor/advisor will assign internship where it is required.

Ministry is when you serve a group of people. Ministry credits will be granted when you actively participate in ministering to a group of people under the guidance and leadership of a pastor or bishop. the ministry must be approved by both your instructor/advisor and the Dean of Academics. Credits will be granted based on a performance report provided by the overseer of the ministry organization.

CHAPEL CREDIT:

Attendance in chapel (regular church) services is required for all post-graduate students (those seeking masters or Doctorate degrees). Acceptable evidence of attendance wil lbe a letter from a pastor, associate pastor, elder or deacon stating that you were present through the entire service on a personal (as long as it is directly recorded and not downloaded) will also serve as evidence of attendance. Credits will be granted by your instructor/advisor.

TRANSFER CREDITS:

Transfer credit fee is $25 per transcript or certificate of completion.

All credits must be proven by providing a transcript or certificate of completion with course descriptions. If course descriptions are not provided there may be a delay in transferring credits as we research where to apply the cedits.

We will only transfer credit for Bible study courses and courses related to your field of study. Determination of credits accepted for transfer will be determined by the Board of Regents.

LIFE AND MINISTRY EXPERIENCE

In order to apply for life and ministry experience credits, a student will be required to prepare a life experience resume detailing everything they have participated in that they believe applies as experience in the choses area of study.

For example, a pastor would detail length of time in the ministry as a pastor and before becoming a pastor, what type of ministry he/she has: is he/she a teacher, preacher, prophet. A pastor would also need to detail topics he/she has studied in working their ministry, whether they have worked in/with other ministries and what type of works they did there, etc.
