Shirley Chitwood
Memorial Foundation

Mrs. Shirley Joyce Chitwood passed away October 16, 2021.

She was an energetic and active volunteer in our prison

ministry as we took the Bible College behind bars before

the COVID-19 restrictions stopped us from going in.

Mrs. Chitwood’s desire to help and encourage inmates and

to teach the Bible to them was unmatched in any of our

other staff or volunteers. She left behind a legacy of love

and commitment that we pray will never end.

The Shirley Chitwood Memorial Foundation was founded soon

after Mrs. Chitwood went home to heaven to help keep her

dream of seeing all inmates established with an understanding

of God and His word alive.

The Foundation’s scholarship program is still alive today, but has a

reduced number of courses covered due to reduced funding.
